An infant with steroid-refractory cytomegalovirus-associated ADEM who responded to immunoglobulin therapy.
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) develops via an immunological mechanism. We encountered a 10-month-old infant with a rare pathogenesis of cytomegalovirus (CMV)-related ADEM. The patients complaints were; protracted fever; consciousness disorder; and affected cervical stability. Cerebral magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) 9 days after onset, revealed a disseminated lesion, suggesting A...
متن کاملA surgical case of inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm that responded remarkably to preoperative steroid therapy
We describe the surgical management of a 58-year-old man with inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm (IAAA) following treatment with preoperative steroids. The patient was transferred to our institution for abdominal pain and fever. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed juxtarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm surrounded by dense perianeurysmal fibrous tissue. Under a diagnosis of IAAA, ster...
متن کاملPlasma cell granuloma of the lung--resection and steroid therapy.
We report on three resected cases of intrapulmonary plasma cell granuloma. All of them were asymptomatic. One of them showed bilateral multiple lesions and in this case bilateral partial resections of lung in one stage were performed. Under light and electron microscopy the lesions were composed of plasma cells and other kinds of inflammatory cell. The plasma cells were mature and had rich endo...
متن کاملJuvenile spondyloarthritis with microscopic colitis.
We report an adolescent girl with long standing spondyloarthritis and chronic diarrhea. Colonoscopy and biopsy revealed microscopic colitis. All serology and HLA-B27 were negative. This case is reported for its rarity and the need to evaluate gut in chronic arthritis to achieve clinical remission.
